Fenn Farm is a family business with Jonny and Graham Crickmore having worked on the farm from an early age. The farm has diversified with the addition of a pioneering cheese and butter making business. There is an amazing farm team who crawl out of their beds to tend newborn calves on a sleety February morning and the cheese team who navigate that complex dairy science! And never forget the superb support team who handle marketing, business development, packing etc. Jonny is also the chairman of the Raw Milk Producers Assoc.
The highly praised and well known cheese is Baron Bigod Brie. Bigod Brie shares its appearance with its famous French cousin, Brie de Meaux, but its taste is subtler. It has a smooth silky texture, a golden curd and is creamy and buttery.
Made by hand in small batches, very early in the morning so the raw milk is still warm – which is perfect for cheese making. The entire process is beautifully described on Fen Farm Dairy’s website so do visit it! Highly recommended by The Cheese Society.
